The University of Eswatini through the Department of Computer Science hosted its IndabaX 2024 on the 28th to 29th of August, 2024 with support from Deep Learning Indaba consortium, Eswatini Revenue Service, Royal Science and Technology Park, Centre for Financial Inclusion (CFI), Central Bank of Eswatini(CBE), Financial Services Regulatory Authority(FSRA) and Eswatini Communications Commission(ESCCOM).
This is a workshop consisting of structured seminar lectures and practical sessions by established researchers from multi-disciplinary fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Geosciences, Accounting, Finance and Management. The tutorial lectures will cover Introduction to Explainable Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Decision Making, Generative AI opportunities in the workplace, Benefits of Explainable AI in the provision of financial services, Big Data feature selection algorithm using parallel and distributed computing under Hadoop and Apache spark framework, AI for Social Good, and Integrating AI into Business Intelligence and Data Analytics
The practical sessions will be on Python programming.
Aim and Objectives
The aim of the workshop is to support local researchers in Eswatini to enhance and strengthen local and international links for future collaboration, build research capacity and improve the students and young researchers’ career opportunities. The workshop thrives to achieve the following objectives:
1. Improvement of research capacity of students and researchers through machine learning techniques in order to address real-life problems.
2. Contribute local content to the existing machine learning applications
3. Empowerment of Women in Machine Learning in Eswatini

The purpose of poster presentation sessions in Eswatini IndabaX is to showcase Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML)/Deep learning (DL)/Data Mining (DM) research by youth not more than 35years old.
This competition is a social coding event that brings computer programmers and other interested people together to improve upon or build a new software program.
